This is part of my Chroma series, which evolved from the stripes and gradients that began to appear in my previous Spatial Memory series.

The title of this painting comes from a steep bush-clad hill that I love walking up. The smell of the native bush and the sounds of the abundant birdlife are so calming. And at the top, you are rewarded by an open grassy area with 360 degree views, often all the way down to the South Island and sometimes as far up the North Island as Mt Taranaki. It has a large antenna at the top, and it’s the highest point in Wellington (please correct me if I’m wrong!).

This painting is in the exhibition ‘What you see is what you see’ at Quiet Dog Gallery in Nelson. Contact the gallery if you are interested in purchasing this painting.
